Rizoma grips vs. OEM

I was considering buying the Lux grips for sometime. "BUT" everytime I though about having the clip-ons cut so there would be no gap, i bailed on the purchase. I was thinking about going with the MW CF clip ons. They have gold clamps, which would look sweet with the gold Rizoma lux grips and the gold bar ends...

The installation should be easy. The hardest part should be remove the grip on clutch side. I don't have pressure air gun at home.... any other easy method???

I rather install them myself than wait in the dealership. I hate to wait few hours for a simple job..... I have dremel tool and cutting job should be easy.

I got the LUX grips for my birthday and I checked with bellissimoto and they said they have never heard about needing to cut anything whatsoever.

I checked with my local dealer and they said the same. Apparently there is no cutting needed.

Just don't know how to get the OEM grip off...

under a tiny bit of the OEM grip.

Squirt WD40 into the gap. Give it a minute, then stick the driver back in and it'll go in further and then you spray more WD40 and on and on and further and further until the grip will just pull or peel off off. if you're at it more than 3 minutes you've doen it wrong.

I know this thread is over a month old, but my Question!

Why Cut the bar end or purchase different clipons? Why not just move the other components that slight distance to remove the gap. If you were to by new clipons you would be basically doing this. Scratching my head on this one. I just ordered the Lux in Silver today. I guess I will find out when I do the install. By the way Hello as this is my first post.

Welcome DBLAAsDUC. You would have to re-drill the positioning holes in the clip ons for the components. It should not be so much that the old holes would be visible, but I am not certain. Your choice, drill or cut, both are easy as the aluminum is like going through butter.

I guess you are new to Ducati 848,1098 or 1198....

Wait unitl you received the Rizoma Grip, then you will have the answer why people cut the clip-on bar instead of moving the other components. I thought of that before too, but you still have to do some mod...

The throttle side has a little hole on clip-on bar for position of your throttle tube. Unless you re-drill a new hole or cutting the clip-on bar, you cannot get rid of the gap. maybe a washer.. The Rizoma Grips are little shorter than stock grips.

I bought a pair of the Rizoma Deluxe Universal Grips from Bellissimoto.com They are a great pair. He also has the Rizoma Sportline Universal Grips. I put mine on myself which was pretty easy. Not cutting except taking the old ones off. If you decide to look into them with with Bellissimoto he will price match and beat the price if u find them somewhere else. He has alot of parts you can dress your Ducati up with. The majority of the parts on mine are from his place. Anyway, the Rizoma's are good grips, they make the bike look good.
