I have a ford fiesta which is currently on hire purchase. I have recently declared myself bankrupt and been informaed by my official reciever that they have no interest in the car and it is up to my credit company on if they let me keep the car or take it back.

It has now been over a month and I have had no word. I have tried contacting them but can never get through to a department that can help.
Is there any way I can give/sell this car to someone or would the credit company still have the rights to reclaim it even if the log book isnt in my name? Technically the debt on the car no longer exsits as I am no longer obligated to pay it.

Any help would be great as im sick of a car sitting on my drive and no knowing what to do with it.

Thanks

SalUK and Paul are correct. What worries me is that the official receiver isn't doing their job properly. They may have no interest in the vehicle but they do have a legal obligation to the people you owe money to and to YOU. Contact them and tell them to deal with

Can't sell it - the new owner would have no title to it, and you could be prosecuted for selling it. Keep on at the credit company - INSIST on them making a decision fo ryou.
