Right reasons for joining military?

I am 20 and a pre-junior (3rd out of fifth year) at a university majoring in aerospace engineering, I am fairly bright, but no genious.I started my first year with a 4.0 but have been becoming less and less interested and now have a 3.4. School and my major doesn';t seem to interest me anymore. I have no passion for the subject but just keep going because I don't know what else to do.

Enlisting has crossed my mind many times.. I almost enlisted prior to college, but people kept telling my I am too smart for the military and it would be a waste.

Lets just say I have lived an unsatisfactory life. I hid behind walls and myself from the world for many years. So I am far behind in the social game and due to this I am having a hard time finding my place. I want to change. But just keeping doing what I am doing know will change nothing.

I feel like enlisting in the military and dropping out of school will help me progressive through life. I feel like I would learn a lot about myself and gain the confidence I want. I love my country, and love a physical challenge. But is joining in hopes of a change in my life the wrong reason?
I have considered changing, but the school would not let me switch to mechanical, or electrical (I tried both) due to an overflow of students. I looked at different schools, but my school has an incredible co-op program. The co-op program is one of the main reasons I am going here.

I realize it would benefit me greatly if I stuck with school and got a degree. But I still have 3 years left. That is a long time for someone my age. I'm not crazy about PAYING to do something I do not enjoy for three years.
