Right between the eyes

I don't know if this has ever happened to you guys or not... probably not.

I'm on my school's color guard, which means we're like the dance team, but we actually work hard and spin flags, rifles, and sabers too. I was practicing with my rifle recently and I ended up nailing myself right in the face with it. This was a couple days ago, and it still hurts... but no bruising or anything. What's up with that?
 
i twirled rifles for a year, sabers for 3 years, and flags for 6. i have looked like a leopard (spelling), i looked like i got punched in the lips, and i have seen starts a few times. you probably have a bruised muscle and you can't see the bruise. if you hit yourself on your fore arms you might not ever see the bruise. if you hit yourself just right you will have a black dot on your arm. careful, colorguard can be really dangerous. i came close to breaking my nose a few times and i have busted my lips open a lot. it was worth it to be 4 time state champs. keep practicing. :)
 
Hey! Colorguard people! I'm in colorguard!

I've had some mysterious bruises, just little dots all over me, almost knocked myself out, have had OTHER people almost knock me out. People don't realize what we go through to get this stuff right!

Sorry that you got hit, thats never fun. Did you put ice on it afterwards? Sometimes if you don't let it cool down, then it won't heal properly. Hope you get better soon!
 
Wow, memories. I was a letter carrier my freshman year in high school. We carried the name of the high school at the front of the band in parades and at half-time (each girl carrying one letter of the school). We flipped the letters as the other side had the school mascot on it. So, I hurt myself with scratches mainly to the chin from flipping it. At the end of the year they handed us rifles and said start practicing because the next year we were going to start that too. Well, I didn't get to stay there (army brat) we moved to GA and that was the end of band and rifles/banners for me. But I did manage to knock myself in the face and head when I was stupid enough to try to throw it in the air a couple of times in my short stint. :D
 
I started out wanting to be a majorette. I thought twirling that shiny baton was just too cool. I wanted to learn how to twirl one with fire shooting out both ends.


Hmm, well, just a minor problem with my ambitions. I have absolutely no depth perception - things far away look close up, and vice versa. After injuring myself, the other majorettes and even the band leader with some pretty wild throws, I was asked to switch to being a letter carrier (as described by HoneyImHome).

And they wouldn't let me set the letters on fire. :sad:
 
I've never been hit between the eyes, but I have taken a field hockey stick to the lip before. It hurts alot. Luckly, I was wearing my mouth gaurd, so my teeth were fine, but my lip got busted. I get hit alot in field hockey and soccer.

EDIT: I actually now remember a time I got hit in the forehead. It was due to my own stupidity though. My lock on my locker takes several attempts to open. So, one day I was on my 3rd try and I just lost it, so I start pulling as hard as possible on the lock. After a few big tugs the locker door flies open and hits me square in the forehead. I fall on the floor gripping my forehead and everyone around is laughing. It left a really big red mark and ws pretty embarrasing.
 
We were talking about this in class today, and someone brought up something I'd totally forgotten about!

There was one day where we did kind of an assembly line thing with the rifles, just playing around, you know. And someone thought it'd be funny to pretend like they were gonna hit me with the butt of the rifle, but then actually did. Right between the eyes! All it did was make my eyes water and someone said it looked like both my eyes were getting blacked, but it all went away.

I was practicing with my rifle again today, I can finally throw quads, so that's a good thing.
But I ended up scratching myself on my upper arm today, it was weird and I didn't notice that it was an actual scratch until just an hour or two ago, haha. It was because there was a jagged piece of folded electrical tape hanging off of it and I did something funky with the rifle and it ended up zipping past my arm... it was crazy.

But it kind of looks like a smiley face, minus the eyes... maybe i'll get random bruises up there next time, haha
 
When I saw the title "right between the eyes", I immediately thought something else. Something sexual. I don't know why. I guess it's just the way I am.

Anyways, that scar doesn't look too bad. It's not bleeding, so thats good.
 
Haha, it's funny because that's what I thought when I posted the title. Woo for attention-grabbing.
Yeah, the scar isn't that bad, it doesn't hurt or anything, just a little raised. I thought it was funny because I didn't think it was that big when my rifle decided to bite me... but alas, it is quite big
