uh oh.
More on the site, articles really long

Don't blame them... it's the faggot politicians and consumers that want cheap oil but won't allow oil companies to drill anywhere where oil is easily accessible. So they end up drilling MILES underwater instead of in Alaska or shallower water. Of course they are going to cut corners to keep the costs low and therefore keep oil cheaper for all.

Why didn't Obama intercept their phone call and tell them not to do that? What was he doing during that phone call anyways? Playing golf and attending parties?

yes, they are so worried about cost to the consumer they cut corners because its more money in thier pocket, not ours

any business is worried about cost to consumer -- if people aren't able to pay higher prices, it'll be difficult to do business.

somebody already posted something like this in the top kill clusterfuck thread

not in the oil market, prices go down and opec cuts production to bring prices back up.

Considering they cant really control the price of the oil they sell.. they aren't worried about the cost..

wow....sounds like the BP officials in charge of that well had no regard for signs that people were warning them about.

when this is all over and most of the claims are paid, im going to boycott bp. we dont want them to run out of money before everything is paid though lol

if the oil markets were relatively free you might have a point, but oil markets are basically controlled by OPEC and are from free. Further, oil demand is relatively inelastic and thus when prices go up consumer usage typically goes down by an amount which WILL NOT OFFSET the increased profits.

Why do you think these companies were pulling down record profits when gasoline went north of $3/gallon in most of the country? The demand for oil is going to be there no matter what the price (within a range of prices, I mean).

As it is, the oil industry really has very little reason to be concerned about costs to consumers.
