Rider Down

I find that the more I ride the more gear I want on. Ive been sporting the 1 piece lately but never get on the bike without boots, jacket, gloves and a helmet.

It's amazing how many people go out without any gear on. On my rides to work I see plenty of the fair-weather riders out and about in flip-flops, t-shirts, tanktops, shorts, no gloves, but at least they remembered to wear their helmet. Idiots. I never go out without my gear on, even if it's for a block.

I'm not sure what kind of gear would protect you from that kind of accident though. IMO, it's a two pronged approach, experience and equipment. I'd like to see how many guys here on DS use a back protector, I bet it's under 40%.

Yet back & spinal injuries in motorcycles accidents are extremely common.

If you are over 21 and have at least $10,000 worth of health insurance you are not required to wear one. Been that way since 2000.
