Riddles, I need help!!!!?

1) It would not hold. It is still one string being pulled from the center by 4 pounds from either side and that would be a total of 8 pounds on one side. Not enough to hold.

2) sounds like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, Jerry,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19

1.) you tie a five pound weight to a string and tie the string to the ceiling. the string successfully holds the five pound weight in place. You untie the five pound weight and attach a six pound weight. The string snaps immediatly under the weight.

If you were to use the same string, tie a four pound weight o each end, and put the two ends on either side of the pulley, would the string hold or break? Please explain how you came up with your answer...




2.) On a certain math test, Jerry gets both the tenth highest score in the class and the tenth lowest score. If every student has a different score, how many students are there in the class? Please explain how you came up with your answer...

1.)It should hold. It's basically like having two separate pieces of string, and since the string can hold 5 lbs without breaking it should be able to handle 4 lbs.

2.) 19 students. When you arrange the students in a vertical list by test score, Jerry will be tenth from the top and tenth from the bottom.
