Rick Perry: Middle Income America Don't Pay Enough Income Taxes

The only reason they don't pay a federal income tax is because the broken system has moved wealth from the poor to the top few percent every year for forty years.

The top pay because they have all the money. And I don't mean like, 3 or 4 times as much...I mean 50+ times as much.

I guarantee the middle class in this country would love to earn enough income to have a tax worth collecting.

The people buying the merchandise have no real choice in the matter. Those electronics are made in China because so far it's been cheaper to produce them there, but it's the companies who initiated this trend, not the poor & middle class.

At best, the cheapening of products has only masked the stagnation of wages, and halted any action people may have taken against it.

Just like those high tax rates and booming middle class that started to develop in the 50's?

That's really funny too, because if you plot the top marginal with the size of the middle class, they behave a manner indicative of what this columnist stated.

Are you sure you read a history book?

To be honest my Federal taxes really are not that bad.

It is my school and property taxes that are fucking KILLING me. Close to eight thousand dollars a year to live in the snowiest metropolitan area in the US?

Really?

Even though many of them (including Buffet and Gates and a whole slough of others) pay ~15% tax?

Now a person making $20,000/year is paying in $2,660 (if you count the employer contribution which economists typically agree comes out of the employees check in the form of lower wages) and you come to the conclusion that they will pay 13.33%

Not so far apart really. And I do think it is fair that the rich pay the ~1.67% more than the poor. You can call me a commie liberal, but I personally think that everyone should pay about 20% across the board with ZERO deductions/write oRAB/etc.. and those below the poverty line as established by the government of the USA should have to pay about 13%

Yeah, they buy from Germany and Italy!

But I agree. And with the advent of the internet (companies selling at $1 over cost just to move product) and NO ONE giving a flying fuck about quality anymore it isn't going to get any better. What is the solution though? Higher tariRAB on chinese/korean gooRAB? Less incentives for companies to incorporate overseas? Seriously, what is going to change that? It's a catch 22. You can't afford quality items so you buy at walmart and then jobs get lost locally so now more people are on welfare/unemployment and are forced to shop Walmart because it's all they can afford. Perhaps if the companies let some of that money "trickle down" people would start buying nicer items and be less conscious of buying things that are "good enough" and focus more on buying "good" items.
