Richard Gere's middle name...

It's was originally (and still is) a French surname but became popular as a girl's firstname in the 70s & 80s. It was Ricard Gere's mothers maiden name.

I've heard them but still had to google for the answers.

They could all be from spoof movies such as Airplane, Naked Gun, Loaded Weapon etc.
 
Its an oddity that many mens names eventually become girls names. People think tomboy girls are cute i guess. It doesn't work the other way around. But if you do look into it, many girls names were originally boys names
 
I think they were both decent dancers. Swayze's dancing skills are pretty obvious but there are a few I could name that have gone through that route into martial arts.

Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Van Damme, Ziyi Zhang
 
I went out with a bloke years ago and his name was Joseph Mary Hoban. We once got stopped by police when he was driving one night and he showed his drivers licence and the policeman was stunned.
