I'm so glad there is a thread of this couple. When I was growing up I loved watching Gone With The Wind & Scarlett movie. I drove my parents crazy :D

Just rewatched my GWTW DVD tonight, and particularly the fabulous documentary/making of in the bonus section.

That remembered that I made some GWTW avatars months ago... I should make some more

I've gotten to the part in the book where Rhett has asked Scarlett to marry him. By this time, I'm tired of hearing the same old reasons why Scarlett loves Ashley. It seems she loves him because she feels she has to and not out of real love anymore.

The book descriptions of the kisses are so much better than the ones in the movie. Scarlett almost faints everytime Rhett kisses her. The only sad thing is how much it pains Rhett that Scarlett is only "fond of him."

Also, another thing I never really thought about seriously before was that Belle Watling loved Rhett. In the book, in the scene where Belle comes to Melanie in the carraige and they talk, she talks badly of Scarlett. It is very obvious that she is jealous of her because she has Rhetts affection and Belle doesn't.

I want to read "Rhett Butler's People". I still like both verisons of the movies. Although no one is good like Vivian and Clark. But Joanne and Timothy I thought were good.

Hello.

Oh, I've been toying with the idea of re-casting the characters of GWTW for a while now (in my head, because obviously I can't). Anyway, heres my little idea for Rhett, because he would be perfect!

Rhett: The all time sexy beast...Johnny Depp.

OMG how did I never see this thread before!!

Please add me to the list!

Rhett and Scarlett are epic - they are my favourite movie couple ever (tied with Rick and Ilsa :D )!

I've loved this couple since I first saw the film when I was like 5!

Sorry if it sounded like I was blaming the characters for their feelings.I wasn't trying to.You can't help what you feel.

OMG I love those scenes. They are filled with so much passion and emotion.I just love them.

I just reread the book for like the billionth time. Haven't seen the movie in quite a while though. But yeah, they're one of the awesome-est couples in the history of awesome-ness

Not sure I would appreciate a remake of this movie, since I really love the original movie. One of the best adaptions of a book ever in my opinion.

Hey!

I'm a big fan of GWTW and I love Scarlett and Rhett, I mean how can you not??

I've read both books and seen the first film. I didn't know that there was a second film, could anyone tell me a bit more about it because I would love it get it?

I liked the first book better then the second, I thought in the second book that in places the characters were weak and uncharacteristic.

But yeah Scarlett and Rhett are my all time favorite couple.

Yeah the movie was awful. But there's no one else that can play Rhett or Scarlett. They shouldn't even try.

yup, the movie is absolutely awesome too. This is a case where I love the book and movie equally, and that doesn't happen very often.

I think Scarlett loved Ashley and I think Ashley really appriciated Scarlett. Had they been together, it could have worked. However, I believe Scarlett and Rhett were better suited for each other. Because of this, I like all of the characters and place no blame on any of them for their feelings. I think they only make it more interesting.

One scene I absolutely love that took me a while to get into is the scene where Rhett brings Scarlett that new green hat. The kiss has so much passion but I didn't really understand it before. I also love the scene where he leaves her to go to Tara and he to the army. That is a very emotional scene both in the book and in the movie.

Scarlett and Rhett were a classic movie couple. I absolutely loved them together. That was such an incredibly good movie as well. One of my favorites. Vivian Leigh is so beautiful. I always wanted to be her. I adored all the dresses she wore. And of course, Clark Gable is very handsome.
I actually had to watch the movie and write a report on it for school. I totally fell in love with it after that. And yes, I have read the book as well. There is also a sequel to the book. I forget the exact name of it but it's a really good book. There was also that miniseries called Scarlett, which was pretty good.

Hmm...recasting for a remake?? I have acutally thought about that before. Catherine Zeta Jones is the first woman to come to mind. I think she would make a beautiful Scarlett. Charisma Carpentar would be okay I guess, but I don't think her acting ability is all that great. As for Rhett, I don't really no. I have to think on that one.
