Haven't CofE vicar comedies been done to death...don't know why but thoughts of 'The Office' kept popping into my head.

Could have been funnier if set in a mosque, with a moderate and radical cleric?

Innofensive little comedy with a likeable lead and a good supporting cast. It felt like being transported back in time to some period in the 70's..with the odd swear word or mild sexual reference thrown in to make it appear more modern.
Might have done well as a sunday evening offering, but I can't see an audience for it at 10pm on a monday night.
I might give it another try..if there's really nothing else at all worth watching.

Seen a few adverts for this starting next week, anyone else gunna give it ago? The adverts didn't make it look too good, but all the reviews i've read on it have been positive.

Did not even know this existed until I heard Alexander Armstrong interviewed on Richard Bacons podcast, so caught it on iplayer, thought it was pretty funny.

"To my mind the series had a touch of Reggie Perrin (70's one) about it. "

high praise indeed! Thought this was the best episode yet, though I'm not sure the delectable Ms Redknapp would have agreed!

Have watched this from the start, and am enjoying it. Some really good funny moments, particuarly as I am from a church background.

Looks much more like a successor to Father Ted than VoD to me (though hardly an expert as I have only seen the force-fed ads for Dibley, not the show itself which looked like a parody of itself).

And - no, it wouldn't have been. And 50% of the audience wouldn't have understood it, either.

I liked it.

From membership of a few Christian boards I'm on, I hear about the politics in the Anglican church - and this seems to have been written in a similar vein to Cardiac Arrest and the other NHS sitcom (can;'t remember it - went out on BBC2 but was full of in-jokes).

From the perspective of this Baptist... I think this plays out more realistically than Dibley... I hope it has a good chance...

Yeah, a very good show, and I hope they renew it immediately.

Anyone remember Freezing, with Tom Hollander and Hugh Bonneville? Only 3 eps, but it was incredibly funny, still got my fingers crossed for more of that :)

The BBC think this programme is either really good or so bad it will quickly be forgotten, as they scheduled it twice in three days on the same channel.

Then to make sure you didn't miss it, or you wanted to watch it three times, they've put it on i-Player.
There's something wrong with the logic here but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Episode 4 was a bit aggravating, I don't know if i didn't find it as funny as usual because it was obvious this episode was originally Episode 1.

But then again the Beeb probably moved it back to episode 4 as it wasn't brilliant.

hopefully they'll get the episodes back into a more chronological order for any box set though.
