Retin-A Expired

I am currently using Retin-A that expired in July. I can't get more until January (I just started a new job and my medical insurance doesn't go into effect until then). Will the expired Retin-A still work? Does it become slightly less effective or totally ineffective after expiration? Thanks.

It won't be totally ineffective, but will of course lose some of it's potency. Only reason I am stating this is because I use Tazorac which is basically pretty similar except it's stronger and more effective on me, and I was in a similar situation last year, where it had expired but the derm told me I was able to continue to use it... None the less, it still worked.. Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK
 
drugs generaly have an expirey daye equal to when it is expected that 10% of the active constituent will have degraded.... so you probably wont notice any difference over the next few months!
 
My daughter's Doctor office gave us a lot of little sample tubes. Have you asked your Doctor about that until you can visit and get a prescription after the first of the year? Our Doctor was good about putting samples aside and stuff and I know it helped (just with the expense of Retin-A WITH insurance). Every little bit helps!

Call your pharmacist (or any pharmacist) and ask them.

It should be fine, but some drugs (like the antibiotic minocycline) actually get stronger and toxic if expired.

So make a two minute phone call and you'll know for sure!
