Hello,

I've started exercising and just bought a heart rate monitor to know when I am in my target heart rate zone. However, since I use albuterol for all exercise, should I use my normal resting heart rate, or what I get after taking albuterol? I don't want to use my normal and not work hard enough but don't want to use the higher and work myself too hard (I am obese and don't need a heart attack!). I have made an appt for a check up with my doc and will ask her then but that is a month away. Has anyone gotten this information from their doctor or have recommendation?

Thanks!
Norma

use your normal rate. The side effects of the albuterol wear off when you exercise so it will go back to normal before it raises again...or it should!

Thanks much! I also talked to an RN on my health insurance plan and she said the same thing.

Though realize when you coughing fit it will go up significantly ...heart rate and blood pressure.
