im 18 and i am overweight(clinically diognosed as obese being 5'4" about 205 Ibs and im a female). so i check my pulse a lot cuz im worried about meh heart. when i check it, i usually get a heart rate of 88. is that bad?

It's probably something you should discuss with your doctor, but my 87 yr. old mother has a resting heart rate of 90 and always has. My dad and I, on the other hand, have resting heart rates of 55-60. Check your pulse three or four times a day and keep a record for a couple weeks. Next time you go to your doctor, share this info with him/her. Do you have a blood pressure cuff? That would also be valuable info for your doctor to know. I believe we're all very different individuals and if 88 is normal for you and you're not experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, or high BP, you're probably ok. But still--keep a record for your doctor's information. I am also trying to lose weight and it's not easy at all! :dizzy: Hang in there.

i went to the doctor a week ago and when i went she listend to meh heart(checkup thingy) and didnt hear anything wrong plus a wek ago my blood pressure was 120/80

and whenever i do teh pulse thingy, i always get between 80 and 93 but i usually get 88 so idk

Like someone already wrote, you should check your pulse in the morning just after you wake up as that is your true resting pulse.

If it's still 88 when you check it then, then I don't know if you should talk to your doctor or what. I was told by my doc that between 60-80 is the normal resting pulse for someone who's neither in nor out of shape. Between 40-60 if you're in good shape/professional athlete. Lance Armstrong's resting pulse during the Tour de France was 16 so people are different and these numbers are obviously just guidelines.

I wouldn't worry. My resting heart rate is 80 to 90 and I think it has always been that way. I am fairly fit. I am 44 and my blood pressure runs 110/70.
So don't worry. I checked with my doctor too about this. They weren't concerned at all. I do have alot of anxiety so that may have something to do with it.
