Restaurants in New York City?

Go Herd

My friend and I are contemplating taking one of those red-eye weekend trips to NYC in December and are in the process of planning what we would do and where we would go if we did this. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on good places to eat that don't cost a lot of money (we're college students) - about $30 each. We would probably only do one "big" meal (aka not a fast food restaurant) since it's only a two day trip. We've both been to NYC before but we're looking for something that's good and practical. The only thing is that my friend doesn't like Asian food (which is a bummer because I'd LOVE to have Chinese food from China Town!). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Go to a Cuban-Chinese restaurant on the Upper West Side!

That way you can order from the Chinese side of the menu, and your friend can order from the Cuban side, and you'll both be happy!

There used to be dozens of Cuban-Chinese places on the Upper West Side, but they're mostly gone now. They're all very affordable, though, and my favorite is definitely a restaurant called "La Dinastia" at 145 W 72nd St., although there are still several others up there.

Good luck, and the link below is to a webpage all about Cuban-Chinese restaurants...
