I think Palm has been reasonable with legacy support. At least by recent standards. Does that mean I'm happy? No.

I still think my treo 755 was about the best smartphone I ever had, but.....all things come to an end, and it was time to move on. Maybe the new touchscreen 99xx BB will come close to matching it. I still find myself touching the screen on my BB 9650 (to no avail of course).

I got seven Palm OS devices sitting on my desk. One of them requires an extreme makeover though, but the rest are pretty much in operational condition. Ah yes, they all say Palm on the back. Once upon a time, saying Palm was saying dependable.

Still in these days, I do find it amusing that my Treo 680 or my Treo 755p are much more effective in many features that the current devices. Of course, and sadly, that much-more-effectiveness keeps on getting thinner every day. Somewhere along the line, Palm lost the compass. Now it's just another trophy in HP's trophy wall.

Indeed the end of an era.
