Resetting Security code on Nokia 3595

My father-in-law bought a Nokia 3595 off Ebay. The Seller said he didn't know the security code and the phone is locked. How can I reset the code for him, or did he just buy himself a paperweight?

Is a start, and an explanation. Or, there are dealers who will unlock for 10 or 20 bucks. With some phones, you only get 10 tries, then you need a "hardware unlocker". Again, a dealer may do this, only for about 50 bucks.
 
first: which one need a code the phone or sim card? if the sim is locked just give your service provider a call and they will provide you the code. second: if the phone is lock to any of the provider let say t-mo and you put cingular sim card then the phone will ask for code. post it to www.kisland.com and someone will give you an unlocking code for your phone. click on comp forum, and then click on gsm forum.
