Brilliant film, actually my fave Tarantino film, I know a lot of people call it a rip off, but I've seen the "original" and yes the main concept of the story is there but most other things are fairly different, mainly the characters and direction, one of the strong points about the apparently shitty Tarantino version is the fact that we never see the Heist, it's just blanked out, and the way most of the film takes place in the one warehouse, and yet it works. Regarding the soundtracks, it was done in a unique way, it wasn't just music played over the scene, all the music in the film is from the background Radio, K-BILLY with it's Super SounRAB of the 70's so even when the music isn't the main point you hear things like DJ comments in the backgrounRAB and other tracks, to me, the way that was done was actually really clever.
 
The only film I saw 3 times at the cinema as it had problems getting a uk video release. That's also why I imported the US laserdisc. When I recently bought the Blu Ray I showed it to my g/f - She hated it!
 
It's good, but I was never blown away by it to understand its reputation as a cinematic masterpiece. Actually prefer Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill Vol2. Maybe even Inglourious BasterRAB and Kill Bill Vol1 too. It's certainly better than Jackie Brown and the truly awful Death Proof though.
 
A very powerful film that may own a debt to The Killing, the script was certain to draw people in.

It was rather fresh for it's time maybe people have seen the scenes copied for ad infinitum.
 
I think the one and only time I've seen this was when it was on Channel 4 in the mid-90s (ie the days when they were still prepared to make independent and controversial choices). Needless to say I was shocked, not having read too much about QT and his 'retrospective homage' MO up to that point, to see 'The Taking Of Pelham 1-2-3' on ITV a few months later, and from then on his career has amazed me less and less. Jackie Brown will always be a masterpiece though.
 
Jo Brand used to have a comedy sketch show in the 90s and she had a skit of RD in it with elderly women playing the characters in the final scene when Mr Orange is revealed as the 'rat'. Other than that I have never heard of one; I would love to see it though!
