Reserve/ROTC rejection

I rejected my ROTC contracted scholarship again. Sigh.

Long story about how the Army handles officer (2LT, 1LT, CPT) pilots after 4 years.

Sooooo, does anyone know how the reserves handles things?

Say, I go in for a 4 year reserve term, but 2 years in I get my two bachelors, and go out for WOCS to become a pilot in the army. Am I allowed to do that?

I might be naive thinking I can "upgrade" my contract term.


Any input before this coming monday would be awesome, seeing as I can't get a straight answer anywhere else, and I know a few vets/current military lurk around this site.
 
As far as I know you can transfer a reserve enlistment to active duty provided the Army has slots open for your MOS (or at the very least needs officers). The only thing that sucks is that the Army won't necessarily put you in a position to do your job; you may be put in a command position that essentially amounts to little more than clerical work.
 
Reserve infantry to Warrant Officer Canidate School, or let's just say OCS.

That makes me worried. Are you saying that, once I'm in the reserves, the Army is going to place me where they need me in active duty if I go, rather instead of letting me go thru WOCS to become a CW1 aviator?

That sucks rocks. I think I'll just need to go speak to ROTC command Monday.

I'm not sure how reserve school placement goes, but active duty would certain get priority. Wouldn't you go through WOCS/CW1 after basic and such anyway though, while you were still in active duty?
 
Well, if I went reserve, I would go thru basic, yes.

However, for civilian to WOCS, there is no basic required. Unless I'm having a brain lapse.

Me going into the reserves serves two purposes -

A) Build my flight packet resume with military experience
B) Fund my completion of my PPL and Instrument certifications

If going into the reserves fubars my ability to go to WOCS when I graduate, I'll have to find another course of action. Maybe I'll see if reserve offers 1.5 year terms, and I'll just renew my enlistment for the shortest amount possible until I graduate.

(Are you thinking I want to go reserve CW1? I'm wanting to stay reserve while I'm a student, and go active duty army CW1 when I graduate, being that is my goal of a career. I think I'm slightly confused as to what you're trying to point out jung.)
