research paper help! what time period or body of literature should i write write about?

What to write a research paper on? a time period or a body of literature.?
I will like others ideas on what to write a research paper on and a subtopic. The professor has given us possible periods such the black arts movement, realism, naturalism and modernism, medieval lit. among others. Please help and maybe some sources. thanks!
 
As a science fiction addict, I can suggest doing a research paper on SF published during the 1920s, and how well it anticipated today's world. We are 40 years after the first Moon landing--definitely a time period that is science fictional.
