Requirements for a trout/fish to live?

I have a small spring feed creek running down my hill. i found a hole thats about 4ft wide and about 2ft deep. It is feed by a waterfall. I already built overhead cover. (some wood drilled together in a triangle and some pine branches) What kind of insects should i look for and how will i kno that the water is good for trout. I was thinkin of catchin trout/bluegill and putting them there so that i can fish whenever.... Is this even legal....
 
i think its legal depending where you are. trouts and bluegills can eat aquatic insects like water walkers or flies
