Requesting guidance with an elder dog...?

I have an older dog, 13-years-old, he's a Brittany Spaniel, and I'm afraid I might need to put him down. I've had this dog since I was 14 and obviously this is very hard on me. His health has been declining for the past few months. First it starting with him twitching, the Vet said this was due to him being over-sized and I didn't need to worry about it since he doesn't seem to be in pain when he does it. Then he started to get picky with his food. Wouldn't eat unless it was a wet/dry mix. Then he starting throwing up bile in the mornings, so we split up his two meals a day into three. The same amount just smaller portions. Last Sunday he had a seizure. We of course took him into the vet right afterwards and they didn't really give us any answers. Said his liver enzymes were high and sent us home with a liver medication. All this week he's been refusing to eat and vomiting. I don't know what to do. Do you think it's possible he just has a bug? Or am I in denial... Do I just need to accept the fact that it's time to say goodbye? I don't even know what I'm asking here.
