Seriously guys. What the fuck is wrong with you?

He is pathetic and nasty. People that do this suck. But it REALLY doesn't change my belief in smaller government, less taxes, more self sufficiency and states rights.

~shrug~

As luck would have it PR congressman don't have voting privileges.

I watch it and I wonder, how does one get on Bridezillas?

I mean, these people are getting followed around by cameras and microphones and such. Hidden camera it aint.

Obviously they have signed a contract....
isn't it in there best interest to BE Bridezillas?

God only knows what the show pays, maybe they get reirabursed for the wedding. If on camera these people act like reasonable human beings there probably will be no payout.

After the research into the large percentage of people with anti-gay sentiments being aroused by gay porn, and the countless nurabers of Republicans looking for gay sex, this should be no surprise.

Anecdotally, I've always noticed that the people most stridently opposed to homosexuality seem to be overly obsessed by it. They seem to dwell on it. So that research doesn't exactly surprise me. I believe it to be similar to priests who historically took vows of celibacy to avoid the issues they had with various types of sex.

For the record (so there can be zero confusion) if you want to identify a gay rights movement, I support it.
I believe in small government, fiscal responsibility, states rights (as opposed to federal rights) and personal freedoms.
If you want to label me a homosexual supporting republican then so be it.

Its funny. A bunch of years ago there was this tremendous scandal in the Catholic church of children that had been abused by priests and such. The pedophile priest thing.

When that scandal hit my first reaction was, 'Huh? You didn't know about this? Everyone knows about this.'.

I have had a theory regarding homosexuality in the priesthood, and I think it might extend a bit to things like this.

Okay. First we have to resolve the nature/nurture homosexuality debate. I view the question as a loose/loose question and why homosexuals are willing to get within a 1000 yarRAB of it is beyond me. I believe it is nature - hereditary, that you are born gay.

That is an important distinction from nurture (learning). If you are born gay then you cannot change it. Whats more, when you enter puberty and for the rest of your life you will have hormones that will accentuate and reinforce it. Short of groundbreaking gene therapy you cannot fight it. All you can do is accept it.

Some families are more accepting of homosexuality then others. What happens when you have grown up in a bible thumping, fire from heaven, sin searing family and at 14 years you realize you are gay?
You are going to assume it is a mistake.
At some point you are going to want to change it.
The harder you push, the harder it pushes back. The harder it pushes back, the harder you need to push.

Eventually you go to what you think is the least likely place for homosexuality - the priesthood.

To say it with fewer worRAB. You developed a self loathing for yourself, you see an identity that is broken. You will do anything to change it. The harder it pushes back, the harder you push.

----

So here we have a congressman that is in a position to change things. (actually no he isn't, a PR congressman has no votes. But I digress)

I think it's a simpler issue with priests. At some point, they conclude their sexual impulses are...wrong, evil, sent by the devil...whatever. They become priests in the hope their vow of chastity will protect them from the bad inclinations.

I disagree with this a bit. The entire 'sent by the devil' thing is a stereotype that I don't like. I think what is really going on is they feel broken. They feel like this is something that they can overcome, fix. Maybe even a challenge. As in, 'God put this here for me to overcome. If I can overcome it I will be a better person.'.

Now, your statement that they become priests in the hope there vow of chastity will protect them - you nailed that. That is EXACTLY what is going on.

In the Roman Catholic church (as opposed to other denominations where this is NOT TRUE) a priest is supposed to be a sexless sort of thing.

So if you were suffering with homosexual compulusions you might view the world as offering 2 good options, heterosexuality (which you fail in) and sexless.

It is an obvious thing.

If the only thing they did was vote against gay marriage, thats not being bigoted. Especially if their constituents view that way.

Now the idea that call homosexuality a plague or something, yeah completely agree.

I was talking to ISO. He's engaging in mindless banter, the likes of which are usually reserved for the type of person that would enjoy a show like Bridezilla.
