NORFOLK, Va. -- Republican Mitt Romney will announce his vice presidential choice on Saturday, ending weeks of speculation about the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.
The Romney campaign announced late Friday that Romney will reveal his running mate atan event at the U.S.S. Wisconsin, a retired U.S. battleship. Wisconsin is the home state of potential vice presidential contender Republican Rep. Paul Ryan, the House Budget Committee chairman who has gotten a boost from conservatives this week.
Other top contenders include Republican Sens. Rob Portman of Ohio and Marco Rubio of Florida, as well are ex-Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
The campaign launched a smart phone application several weeks ago alert supporters when the VP choice was made.
