Gunfire was reported Friday at Los Angeles International Airport, and federal authorities told NBC News that a Transportation Security Administration employee had been wounded.
At least one shot was fired at Terminal 3, the federal authorities said.
Video from NBC Los Angeles showed emergency vehicles outside one terminal. NBC Los Angeles reported that police were responding to reports of a shooting at Terminal 3.
The airport said on its Twitter feed that an “incident” was underway. The airport said that it would provide more information.
NBC Los Angeles reported that the first reports of gunfire came at about 12:20 p.m. ET. Half an hour later, flights were still taking off and landing, the station reported.
In 2002, an Egyptian national opened fired at the El Al ticket counter at LAX, killing two Israelis before he was shot dead. Authorities ruled it a terrorist incident, even though the shooter was not tied to a known group.
