Replacing a tranny on a 97 Mercury Sable - is it worth it?

We have a 97 Mercury Sable which has been really great, no repair issues at all other than the usual engine maintenance. The tranny has finally pooped out at about 185k miles, would it be worth the $1850 to replace the tranny considering the car is in good condition otherwise and has no other issues?
 
it is really a trick question, the value of the car is not 1850 but what are you going to replace it with? you can't really get a quality used car for 2k, you know what the sable is like and if it would get you around for another 25 thousand miles, I would do it, the other option is to put the 1850 down on a new car which would maybe get you the tax and license and have 400 dollar a month payments or more
