how much do you think it would cost to replace a piston on a 200cc dirt bike if i took it to a shop?
4 stroke engine

There are a couple more factors that go into it. I'd call an off roadshop and ask them to take a look at it. Usually they will look at it for free. But I'll run the numbers here for you.

A piston costs anywhere from $100 to about $200 then the job will take about 2-3 hours. labor is about $65 an hour.

Now heres worse case. Your rod may need replaced or machined. They're about another $200-$300. And you may need to have the cylander case overbored or renicaciled. If its scored.

Worse case I'd say a shop does it and it costs $700-$1000

need more info-2 stroke or 4 stroke, engine in bike or out? Cylinder head off bike or engine all togther? See the problem is that you will pay for all labor at the shop needed to get to and remove the piston, if it is a 2 stroke generally it is a little cheaper, IF you replace the piston, you also need new rings and to have the cylinder honed before reinstall of everything. If the previous piston caused damage to the cylinder walls then a new sleeve has to be installed and then the other work done.
