Replacing '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2WD transmission, can I use a different one?

Need to replace 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 2WD transmission - It does not have a drain plug in the pan. Can I use the other model instead that does have a drain plug in the pan? Would there be any problems doing that?
