Replacement VAs who were better than the originals

I think I'm one of the few who actually prefers Lacey Chabert to Mila Kunis. Though I have to admit in the long run that Kunis is a better choice. There was too much sweetness in Chabert's portrayal, and sweetness has no place in Family Guy. It wouldn't be the first time my preference and what actually fits have diverged.

I'll go back a few years for you.

Real Ghostbusters: When the series added a syndicated weekday strip, Lorenzo Music was replaced with Dave Coulier (Full House) as Peter, and Buster Jones took over for Arsenio Hall as Winston. Mind you, Arsenio rebounded from that rather nicely with a successful talk show that ran for 4-5 years.

Super Friends: Bill Calloway took over for Norm Alden as Aquaman beginning with the Challenge season (1978) and was closer to Marvin Miller's work a decade prior than Alden was, anyway. 6 years later, they recast Wonder Woman and Jayna, though Shannon Farnon (WW) & Alden would return to do a bit with the Powerpuff Girls several years later. Also, as we all know, Adam West reprised as Batman, with Olan Soule moving over to voice Prof. Martin Stein.

Real Advs. of Jonny Quest: About halfway through the series' run, they made wholesale cast changes. Never could warm up to George Segal as Benton Quest, or Robert Patrick as Race Bannon. IIRC, John DeLancie & Robert Foxworth, respectively, were brought in.

The common thread? With the exception of SF '84, the changes in the voice casts were upgrades.

To be honest, IMO, I think Frank Frankson (John Campbell?) is a better VA for Raphael than Rob Paulsen was. Raph is the turtle that has a temper, and I think Frankson does a better job of expressing that anger.

I'll also add that I prefer Jim Cummings' Taz over Mel Blanc's. Blanc's is by no means bad, but I feel Cummings' voice fits the character a LITTLE better.

I never said that you thought that the original cast was bad and I'm sorry if I said anything that made you think that I did. All I was saying was how I can understand why people would prefer some of the new voices, particularly Brock and James, due to their complaints about their original voices at some point. Though, I still prefer Eric Stuart's voices for both Brock and James, but I do recognize scenes where Zoppi gives James more sensitive.

Eh, Shinchiro Miki is the only Kojiro for me.

Anyways to get back on topic... I would mention Funi's One Piece but that was taken so I'll go with Sean Schemmel doing Goku. He just seemed to get the most into the role unlike people like Ian Cortlett.
