i couldn't give the car up, first day off the lot after i parked after some hard driving, the clutch pedal loses all backpressure and feels like a sponge, then i can't engage any gears, even reverse made the car jump forward, now the dealership took the car back, replaced the part (supposedly), and in 3rd gear it grinds, they offered to give me my money back but i decided to keep it with hopes of fixing it myself

car is a 91' dodge stealth r/t turbo, also a thump is heard in the back during high speeds switching from 1st to 2nd,

i have a good mechanic who will do the repairs

3rd gear doesn't grind when i downshift into it from 4th at low speeds,

I paid 3,700 for the car, totaled 4,328, the part they replaced costed them 128, and i got $500 left, i need to make this reliable transportation

That clunk you hear may be a motor mount, witch is critical to a manual transmission. if the motor and transmission moves excessivly is makes parts mis alaign and causes premature wear and tear. So that being said, open the hood with the parking break set and engage first gear, slowly letting the cluthc out , but not all the way. then do the same for reverse. if the motor and trans move more than aninch and a half, worn out mounts, have them replaced
