i bought some black housing for my n80 and struggled through taking it apart (well, ripping off the front cover bit was the hardest) and putting it back together in lovely black.

i literally took the whole slide bit off to do this.
i half wondered if it would work at all when i turned it back on but it did!
however, the sliding thing seemed a bit stiff.

i opened and shut it a few times and it sorta loosened up. however once the phone was on i realised that sliding it open and shut doesnt seem to register with the phone :S it thinks it is permanently slid open - i cant lock the keys!!
sliding it shut makes no difference - no 'lock keypad?' popping up.

eek! any idea what i've done? what can i do to fix it or have i ****ed it? i guess its not the end of the WORLD but locking the keys is rather a useful function!

cheers for any help you can give me!

well i wasnt sure about it but it seems to click into place ok, wouldnt it not work at all if the ribbon wasnt installed? ill try taking it apart again and pressing it in firmly.

i would suggest u to send it to a vendor before u damage the phone even more....

seek some help from someone who knows what there doing is my advice.

sliders and swivel phones are the two types i dont even attempt to dissasemble

well it appears to be a fault with the new housing i got, cos when i put the original back part of the slider on again it works fine :S weird! i think youre right though, ive scared myself sh*tless so am going to live with a bit of it still silver! lol
cheers guys
