I just installed a new kicker sub that replaced my factory one, it works, but only can get bass when the volume is maxed out...?
Alright. I am thinking about putting an amp I have in there, so do I need to buy 2 channel rca line-out converter(amp is 2 channel) is that all that I need to get?
It is a factory radio, the harness for it is $125, then I'd have to buy a radio, so ya...anyway...I didn't find any switches on the factory amp, I took it apart, and there's really nothing at all to it, it looks like a very weak amp. I'm curious as to how I tap into the factory harness so I can install the aftermarket amp.

the kicker sub is most likely rated at a higher wattage then the factory , which also means it requires more wattage to get a sound .

find the amp and see if it has a switch that changes from one setting like mono or full or bass to something else you might need a diff amp try turning the bass down on the Radio. do you have a factory radio or have you changed it see if the radio has a bass and treble out put that only works the sub, try turning the bass down and the treble up a little it that don't work get a new radio , or and a new amp

u can buy low level line converters and just run themoff the inputs or the outputs of the factory amp, but serious, just upgade ur head unit. and make sure that kicked has the proper air space and enclosure or it wont matter anyway
u can get that harness for like 25$ on ebay, dont let some shop talk u into bying it for 125$, unless u need the module for the onstar then u might need the 90$ module.

those factory amps are a pain in the ass. id really suggest bypassing it.
