ok so currently i have my van at the dealership and its getting a "major service" done.
i got a quote from one honda dealer and they would do all of the listed for 325+tax:
Oil & Filter Change

Inspect fluids - fill as needed

Inspect accessory belts

Change transmission fluid

Change antifreeze

Complete engine tune - includes:

Replace rotor - Inspect dist. Cap

Replace air element

Set engine to specs

Inspect emission controls

Replace Brake Fluid

Inspect brake lining - front & rear

Inspect brake calipers & wheel cylinders

Adjust rear brakes - inspect bearings

Adjust parking brake

Inspect exhaust system & muffler

Inspect suspension mounting bolts

Inspect steering operation

Rotate tires as needed

Air tires to 30lbs P.S.I.

Check battery - fill as needed

Inspect air conditioning

Road test vehicle

Quality control inspection’

Well i ended up going to another Honda dealer and they first quoted me all this stuff for 525 + tax until i told them i had a quote for 325 + tax somewhere else. So i sent them the email i had on the quote and now they are saying that the only thing i am missing is a ac micro filter so all the things listed + oil change and the ac micro filter is $475. So i hace two questions

1. Arent the things listed with the $325 basically include what is done at an oil change?
2. What is a ac micro filter and do I really need it? this is what the service guy says in his email back to me "THE PRICE AT $325+TX I CAN MATCH, BUT WITHOUT THE A/C MICRON FILTER. THE FILTER IS VERY IMPORTANT THOUGH, AND WHY THEY DONT INCLUDE THEM IN THERE SERVICES....I DONT KNOW. IT IS LIKE A HOME FURNICE FILTER. IT FILTRATES ALL DUST PARTICLES THAT COME THROUGH THE VENTS. IF THE FILTER DOES GET CLOGGED UP...IT CAN EFFECT OTHER THINGS."

i just want to make sure im not getting jipped.

please dont tell me to look at the manual, we bought the van used and there was no manual included.

Thank you I appreciate your time and answers

my van has around 67000 miles so we are doing the major 60k service
i was hopeing you honda guy would answer thank you!!!!!!

A few comments on what you need and what you don't.

at 60k the regular maintenance 'major service' should be
oil and filter change
tire rotation
brake inspection
inspect belts and hoses
inspect undercarriage, steering and suspension
change the air conditioning filter (your micron dust and pollen filter)
change the air filter

my honda dealer in california charges $279 for this service.

as for the quote you got, there are several items on there that are not required and some that can't be done.

the coolant in the car is a long life coolant (antifreeze) and it doesn't need to be changed until 105,000 miles when the timing belt is done.

your brake fluid should be changed every 3 years; if it hasn't been done yet then it should be. if it was done previously then you don't need to have it done.

there is no distributor cap and rotor to change on your car; it has individual coils for the ignition system.

the engine cannot be "set to specs' as it is all computer controlled.

As for your question on the micron filter, it is a 'hepa filter' (you can google that) and its purpose is to filter out dust and pollen from your air conditioning and heating system. the reason for the filter is that if you don't filter that stuff out then it may take root and grow as mold inside the air ducts in the car. so it is a high quality air filtration filter. It should be changed every 2 years or so, and I imagine yours is due for replacement.

ask for a quote on the items above separately and see what the difference is. As I mentioned, my dealer gets $279 for the service including the air conditioning filter plus another $89 for the brake flush if required

you might also ask the dealers how they are going to change the cap and rotor if it doesn't have one.

hope that helps
