Repair on my 2001 Toyota Celica?

I got my first car about a year ago, and it's a 2001 Toyota Celica. The paint is majorly chipping/rusting all over, I have a large dent on the back bumper, and the whole right side's speakers are blown. I got estimates today, and they said the total to get all of this repaired will be $5,500-$6,000. I bought the car for $4,500 and it has about 135,000 miles on it, so I'm not too eager to put so much money into such a well-used car, especially since the repairs are going to cost more than the car itself. I can't decide whether or not the repairs or worth getting, or if I should just get a newer car instead of putting so much into an old one. Any comments/ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

Well you only mentioned bodywork and a minor electrical problem as being whats wrong with it....for a 2001 im surprised but hey. If you cant stand the paint/body damage then yes, get something else. the speakers shouldnt be a big problem - you could have a tinker. perhaps the wiring at the back of it has come off?
With no mechanical work described as being needed, it doesnt sound like a problem for most drivers. If you have the money, get something else. sounds like its bothered you a bit anyway.

Look in your area for an occupational school that has automotive body repair classes or a purely automotive school. Many times they will let you bring your car in to be worked on by students(under the supervision of expert professors) and all you pay is the materials/parts needed.

Now I wouldn't do this with a show car but for a daily driver that all you want is for it to look ok it is a great way to go and you can help students develop skill they need.
