Reoccurring mouth ulcer

Hey,
For a very long time now, probably close to a year, I've been getting this reoccurring mouth ulcer (at least I think that's what it is) in the back of my mouth. It's on the left side, way back close to my throat, and it's very uncomfortable.

I should also mention I've gotten 3 cold sores in the past couple of mouths. I also have a reoccurring sore throat, which I've seen an ENT about and he believes it is caused by acid reflux, causing erosion and making my throat sore. Additionally, I've recently been diagnosed with epilepsy and starting taking Tegretol 3 days ago.

Could stress be causing the ulcer to keep come back? Is there anything else that could be causing it? I've gargled salt water and so on, but it still comes back.

Thanks

I would have an oral surgeon take a look at it. They are trained to know what is
annoying but benign, and what may need to be biopsied. Best wishes!

What you may be experiencing is an outbreak of the Herpes I virus which accounts for most mouth sores. Stress can aggravate or help trigger outbreaks if it is also affecting your inmune system. I agree with the other poster to have your physician or dentist take a look at them. They may prescribe antiviral medication. Probably nothing serious but very uncomfortable. Having someone take a look at it will also provide you with peace of mind.

Get your dentist to check it out, just to be safe.

When you get the ulcers, rinsing the mouth with a 50/50 mix of peroxide and warm water can help speed healing, and using a Benzocaine paint (anabesol etc) can relieve the discomfort.
