...should I call other tenants? Hi, I am the landlord. Should I call all tenants to ask if they have bedbugs too before calling the pest control company? should the exterminator work on all units in this triplex or just the one the tenant called from if other tenants are not complaining? THANKS.

I would wait to have the exterminator positively identify bed bugs as the pests we're dealing with before you worry the other tenants. But, if/when he does ID them you need to work quickly and on the whole building. Bed bugs are very tough to get rid of, they can hide anywhere you can slide a piece of paper, that easily means going through electrical outlets to other units. They can also live for a month without eating so unfortunately they can lay dormant for a long time and wait.

You can't exterminate just one unit--they bugs would just flee to the next one.

First, visit and get sample bugs and verify that it is a bedbug with an exterminator. Then alert all tenants as to the problem and the fact that you have ALREADY scheduled treatments. This will gross out the other tenants, but is the best you can do.
