Rent - The Movie?

Did anyone actually go and see Rent when it was released over here? The release date came and went and I didn't see any advertising and only one review and it certainly didn't hit cinemas in the Yorkshire area! The DVD is out in August so will have to wait until then.
 
As far as i know the reviews were pretty bad and i don't think it did that well at the american box office so it was in and out of the cinema really quickly. I can't really remember but i think there were some bigger films coming out at the time so Rent kind of got forgotten.
 
im a complete RENTHEAD.saw it many times on the west end,seen it on Broadway twice !! and followed it round the country on both national tours of the UK.
THE FILM !! ---- IS excellent have had it for ages now on dvd have both widescreen and full screen versions.very faithfully brought to the screen.the acting is first class as all but 2 actors are the original broadway cast .
the PR ****ed up big time promoting this film.came out with a whimper!!! and it was out for ages on DVD in USA before it got a UK cinema release.that killed it.. !!
RENT has never faired very well here in the UK. shame.
