Re my other question on our brick shed renovation...we have now moved into the old property (1897), and have had a good look at the old brick shed. Although it is sturdy, it seems to have only a single brick construction. I want to make it into a dry workshop for electrical tools etc. The walls are in a bad shape inside...dents in the bricks, VERY uneven construction, but again very sturdy. My question is, what (if anything) do I put on the bare brick to make it watertight before I insulate it with battening, and insulation. I will be having an electrician in to install wall sockets and lighting...do I do this before I see to the insulation or after?..thanks

I recently had to seal a brick wall and went to B & Q and found that they sell their own brand of silicone wall sealant. It is sold in cans and you paint it on with a brush - but presumably you could spray it on if you have a large area to treat. The instructions on the can suggest that it is uses for sealing all types of wall including brickwork.
