The academy released a statement saying they just didn't have time to include him.

I thought this but read yesterday that there are certain dates the deaths run between to be included in that year's memoriam. Roy Scheider was outside of those dates but I would imagine will be included in next years. Heath and Brad were both within the dates to be included this year though.
