Ren & Stimpy VS Adult party cartoon

I really loved the Adult party cartoon. In my opinion, it's much better then the original. Even though APC had 6 episodes, it was a great run.

Offering a different viewpoint, APC was one of the very worst cartoons I've ever had the displeasure of watching. The show just cried, "Look at me! Look at me! I'm John K! I'm making perverted gay sex jokes with characters you used to love! Look at how manly my cartoons are! Look at them! LOOK AT THEM!"

These cartoons make me uncomfortable. And by watching them I learned more about John Kricfalusi (and what goes on in his mind) than I ever wanted to know.

idk if I even want to watch the adult party cartoon. I already watched season 3 and half of season 4 of the games stuff and I don't want anything else ruining my view of my favorite cartoon

Going along with what Darth said, bragging about one's maturity actually proves the one is immature. A mature cartoon focus' on telling the story, using content when it serves a purpose towards developing the story or characters, and sometimes both.

I was never a huge Ren & Stimpy fan to begin with, but at least John K.'s original Nick R&S cartoons had a sense of anarchic glee to them. Adult Party Cartoon, on the other hand, was so horrible that it was almost painful to watch. Every single frame seemed to holler, "Look at me! I'm on Spike now and I'm really pushing the envelope of good taste this time! Eat it, TV execs, for taking me off the air before!!"

A "how low can I go, how much can I get away with?" stance is not synonamous to comedy or quality.

In a way, it seems like the Adult Party Cartoon suffered from the same problems that the Games version suffered from. The Games cartoon was overly and unnecessarily gross to try to seem like it was the same Ren and Stimpy, only the tasteless gross-out humor proved that it wasn't. On Adult Party Cartoon it was unnecessarily edgy and obscene to prove it was mature, but because of that it wasn't. Both are regarded as failures. I guess both of them tried too hard but succeeded too little.

From what i heard, APC was basically John K answering fan requests like "make an ep with naked ladies!", "make an ep thats all gross jokes!". To quote Douglas Adams "this was widely considered a bad idea".

To its credit, APC has great animation. Clearly the artists know their stuff. But the problem is, half the time it just feels like they're showing off instead of asking themselves, "Is this pose or piece of animation really necessary for this moment?" Even Clampett's cartoons (which John seemed to be emulating) didn't take so long to milk a facial expression or deliver a gag.

In fact, after 1942, Clampett's cartoons were very fast paced, which is the exact opposite of APC. The episodes just take forever and could be done in half the time. For example, "Stimpy's Pregnant" has a lot of scenes that just go on way too long, like Ren bragging on the phone about what a man he was, or Stimpy in the kitchen. "Onward and Upward" spends the first half in the bum's mouth just hammering it in that their living condition sucks. "Naked Beach Frenzy" has a lot of filler scenes of the ladies bouncing around that, while good eye candy, makes the episode much longer than it needs to be. But then, that episode had a paper thin plot anyway.

I've said this before, but I also think John K's Ren took a turn for the worse in this new series. He sounds way too gruff and low-pitched, and has a much more muddled accent. Eric Bauza does a passable job as Stimpy, but is no match for Billy West.

Finally, I'm just not a fan of how the characters looked in the new incarnation. Their visual appeal was gone. I much preferred how the character designs looked in the first two seasons.

My saying that APC was one of the worst shows I've ever seen makes me a fanboy for it??

Are you familair with the old robot expression, "Does Not Compute"?

I think someone needs to read that quote again a little more thoroughly.
