Removing SD card to view videos on TV?

I really enjoyed being able to watch the videos stored on my iPhone on the TV I have at work.....but it seems there isn't any kind of "video out" on my new Motorola Droid.

I see plenty of products out there that have SD card readers so you can watch your videos on a TV....does anyone see a problem with removing the SD card from the Droid, putting it in one of these devices, then putting it back in the Droid when I'm done watching a movie?

nope I have no issue with that. Most SD cards readers are like that and thats just how it is. Sd card is great portable harddrive. It can do alot for you so just use it like you are and your fine. They also are reallly cheap

You won't a have a working phone basically. You must remove the battery to remove the SD Card. Some apps use the SD card to store information, such as thumnails and downloads. So certain apps may not run properly if you remove the SD Card.

First off...from the post above me, it appears that the SD card is located under the battery, so that is a bit inconvenient. The phone will still function as a phone, but you obviously would not be able to access anything that uses the SDcard for data storage while the card is out (camera, music, videos, some apps, etc...)

If you are taking the SDcard out...make sure you unmount it to avoid corrupting it. Go to settings >SD card & phone storage > Unmount SD Card. When you put the card back in the phone...it should automatically mount by itself.

as an alternative...you can try something like this. (I do not have a Droid myself so I could not guarantee it would work...but try doing a google search for something similar)

hopefully it shouldn't be too hard not be able to access those particular apps while watching a movie. when it's done, put it back.

Exactly. The fact that I'd be doing this to watch a movie should pretty much tell you that I won't be wanting to be playing around with my phone at this time....I'll be watching a movie.

My only real concern is with switching the card between devices that access the media on the card. For some reason, I was thinking the card might be reformatted in some way when being used by different devices, which would make it difficult to switch back and forth.

i swap sd cards out all the time to share photos and other files between PCs. because a microSD adapter is easier to carry than a USB cable (fits in my wallet) and I keep losing thumb drives. I've never had any formatting issues.

You should not have any issues, like I said...make sure you unmount the card through settings before you remove it from the device just to make sure.

By chance...do you happen to have a PS3? I can plug my phone in via USB to my PS3 and access anything on my card including music and movies.

I don't think that removing SD card is a good idea... You can always watch those videos using a USB DVD player etc.
