Removing paint fill from golf clubs?

I want to remove the paint fill and re-paint it a different color. Right now I'm having an awful time removing the old paint though. I've been using paint stripper (semi-gel?) and its not working at all. I've heard acetone, but the paint stripper has acetone in it and doesn't work. Does anybody have any tips, or a stronger solution that won't mess with the finish of the club? I need to get this paint out! Thanks in advance for the help!
 
Use paint thinner but be careful if you have graphite any solvents will melt it. If it's stuck in the grooves you may need to scrape it out with a fine needle or file.
