A fuel injected engine needs a t-stat to run well. Black smoke means that it's over fueling. Probably because it's stuck in warm up mode constantly. Your going to have o2 sensor rich/lean codes and an ect parameter code until you get a thermastat installed. Don't drive it like this it will DESTROY your catalytic converter in minutes.
