I'm still haveing trouble. I beat on it with a hammer for a long time, nothing. the barking brake is off. i have done a few drum brakes in the past. All of them had an adjuster sprocket to back the pads away from the drum. I can't find one on this car. i can't get a puller around the drum either. Any positive feed back would be great.

some of the foreign cars have several pan head screws in the face of the drum that need to be removed, make sure this is not the case with yours.

Just keep hitting it with a hammer. Their will be a 'lip' of rust around the inside edge and that's what is stopping it. Get a small pry-bar for some leverage. Lever it one side and hit the other side with hammer and just work your way round the diameter of the drum.

Remember to remove the lip before you replace it using a grinder or something similar.

when you hit it with the hammer you should have something [screwdriver] wedged between the backing plate and the drum with some pressure towards you
