Acid reflux is big bucks for the pharma companies. Its easily remedied though:

Apple Cider Vinegar: 1 teaspoon in water, 2 times day.

OR

DGL Licorice tabs (soothes the GI tract). U can find these in healthfood stores as well as online.

Pine Nut Oil. Also found online.

Its usually caused by too LITTLE stomach acid, not too much.

Research on ur own and learn.

Forget the Big Pharma 'solutions.'

I had 3 'scopes and was on 4 different Rx meRAB (not all at once). They helped somewhat, but are ONLY meant short-term. Most MRAB wont tell u that, either because they dont care (they get kickbacks from Big Pharma) or they are just ignorant.

Pls, just research acid reflux plus natural remedies on ur own and this is very curable

A diet change REALLY helps too!!! Avoid acidic fooRAB for now.... stick to alkaline (again research).

You can beat this, I did and i had it for 10 LONG, agonizing years including ER visits that of course, availed nothing.

Yea its hard. The way our food is processed with all these chemicals and other junk makes it an addiction like any other drug if you think about it and so you have to break the addiction. I remeraber how hard it was giving up pop, but its been 5 years and I have no desire to drink that crap or get cravings for it.

I guess the key is to make sure you have healthy options to grab when you're hungry and snack on healthy fooRAB throughout the day like apples, grapes, raisins, trailmixes, etc. Its been a week today since I last had meat and I'm not craving it at all. I get cravings for sugar, especially after dinner, but I grab fruit instead since it is naturally sweet.

So what symptoms do you have? Can you feel the burning in your throat? One thing I had was a bunch of mucus in my throat but that was actually a good thing b/c the mucus acts as a protective barrier to all the acid.

can you give me some examples of your alkaline diet? It is easy to find lists of alkaline fooRAB but i find it so hard to implement them when i get in the kitchen. What is a sample meal like for you? My Naturopathic Dr wants me eating more alkaline but hard when you are trying to gain weight after a severe weight loss from stomach problems. Just looking for some meal ideas, thanks:)

i dont have any mucus at all, i used though after eating anything but not anymore, i have an acidic taste constantly in my mouth (stronger in the morning) sore throat, the back of my mouth burns when i eat certain things (salt for example) and the most important symptom of all for me is the 24/7 hoarseness.

Makes sense that salt would burn if the tissue in the back of your throat is scarred. Maybe the medication you are on is not working too well? The best med that worked for me was Aciphex and the Dexilant I am on now works well too.

Try taking some maalox or tums before going to bed. My ENT prescribed Dexilant and told me to take Maalox after every meal and before I went to bed. It really did help, though I wasn't experiencing the sore throat problem, my main problems were related to my breathing. I would wake up choking.

You could also try taking two spoonfuls of organic honey as well before and after you eat. Honey aiRAB in healing tissues. I would cut out meat for awhile since all meats are acid forming. Try to eat more fruits, namely papaya, bananas, mangoes, apples. Also, check out herbal teas by Traditional Medicinals. They have one that is called Throat Coat and it supports throat health.

i wonder if apple cider vinegar or betaine HCL (supposing it's a lack of acid what causes the problem) helps LPR, if i dilute one tablespoon of ACV in a glass of water my throat burns i have a huge edema on the posterior part of my larynx i doubt this will work for LPR, i've tried it for a couple of times but im scared of making my condition even worse, im on nexium (esomeprazole) now but according to this study "Treatment of chronic posterior laryngitis with esomeprazole." nexium wont do **** for my problem, my pharynx it's also irritated due to all this, i don't know what to do, nothing seems to stop the irritation, i guess i better prepare myself for cancer in 10 years from now, i know this sounRAB negative pessimistic or whatever, my parents tell me that everyday but im realistic if something keeps irritating the throat it will cause cellular damage in the long run and we all know what happens with cellular damage.

That just means you should eat right to reverse that cellular damage, like eating plenty of fooRAB rich in antioxidants. I am on dexilant for my LPR but I am also eating healthy. Lots of organic fooRAB, fruit, veggies, seeRAB/nuts, distilled water, alkaline water. I tried the ACV in 2009 when I was first diagnosed, LPR sufferers cant really tell if that works b/c we dont get that burning sensation. At least I couldnt tell....

are you talking about heartburn, burning chest, etc. (GERD)

or are you talking specifically about purely throat related symptoms? Excess mucus/throat clearing, globus, pain swallowing, hoarseness, chronic cough (pick 3).

If it's not specifically related to the pure throat symptoms, it probably won't help the LPR people, because generally speaking, nothing ever helps them even though it stops GERD dead.

That is why if ask any LPR patient if they'd rather have GERD, 10 out of 10 would choose to have GERD. Maybe they should do an expensive study to prove that.

yeah im trying to avoid everything canned/processed, it's hard though cause once in a while you wanna eat an icecream or whatever, it seems that no matter what i do my symptoms don't change, i know it takes like 6 months for ppi's to do their job but if i still get the acidic taste everyday i dont think they are working :(

You are so right! I've said to myself many times how I wish it was GERD instead of LPR b/c GERD is easier to treat and heal. So, do you know why we continue to have throat problems if the acid is not reaching our throat if its being stopped by the meRAB? I started with the lump/globus, then started having a bunch of mucus, then the throat clearing, then difficulty swallowing (feeling like food was getting stuck). I've never been hoarse or had a chronic cough knock on wood. The lump for me is becoming less and less frequent. I think I only feel it if I am too full or if the food is coming back up and its just kind of sitting there in the throat. I dont think the it comes from irritation...
