Remaking My Fair Lady??!!

You do realise that My Fair Lady was itself a re-make, and as such has already been re-done one way or another many times? Or possibly you don't.

It was a remake of the 1938 film of Pygmalion with Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller,Pygmalion was the name of the film version of the play written by George Bernard Shaw that My Fair Lady was evolved from with music and lyrics by Lerner & Lowe .

Reading about the proposed re-make, what I don't like is that they propose to "bring it all up to date" and set it in the present time with Eliza being more a wannabe celebrity than a wannabe society lady.
I just can't see it working.
I hate it when they set Shakespeare in the present day as well.

:eek:OMG r u serious there goin to make a modern version of my fair lady thats ridiculous there just going to ruin a lovely story:cry:

Well, it looks as if I was mistaken - I think perhaps it ISN'T going to be a modern version after all.

This is what I read today.

So they are still going to set it in 1912 but they are going to make it less "stagey" and use more outside London locations for filming and bring a bit of gritty realism to it.

It won't be anything like the Audrey Hepburn film but it might be quite interesting after all.

I feel better about it now.
