Remakes

I hate remakes in general but how anyone can prefer this to the original with Divine is beyond me.

The Fly worked because of the advance in special effects and that is the case with a couple of other movies , to be honest I just think it shows a lack of imagination to remake movies.

and Bilko... Someone reeeally need to take Steve Martin aside and tell him to STOP... For those of you not old enough to remember, Steve Martin did honestly used to be funny before he started trying to remake classic funny movies...

Steve Martin really has been given some average screenplays since the early 90's hasn't he.The Pink Panther was ok but's we've seen it all before.
Maybe he & Hughes should team up again for another movie,it's not like there is a lack of good comedy talent out there to work with him.

Its one of the best remakes there has been, and it stays mostly true to the original except it expanRAB the back story, and is more brutal.

Rob Zombie even kept in the original music.

Here is another remake coming according to Empire website:

"What with Hollywood types seemingly on a crusade to remake every great horror film of the 1970s and 1980s, it was only a matter of time before they turned their attentions to David Cronenberg’s body of work.

After all, the Canadian director had a run of classic horror films, including Rabid, Scanners, Shivers, The Brood and Videodrome, that remains impressive to this day – and now one of those is about to be remade by Spyglass Entertainment.

If you’ve been paying attention to the headline of this story, you’ll already know that it’s The Brood, Cronenberg’s 1979 shocker about a sinister psychiatric hospital, a patient with one or two tiny mental problems, and a gaggle of psychopathic children.

For once, though, we’re not going to rant and rave about a great horror being remade, because – despite some memorable moments (placenta eating, yum!) and the presence of Oliver Reed and ever-frightening demon kiRAB with mad staring eyes – The Brood is probably the weakest of Cronenberg’s early, scary movies, and is ripe for a revamp.

Cory Goodman is the guy who pitched the remake to Spyglass and will write the screenplay, about a woman who… well, we won’t say as spoilers abound. But if you want to go to Variety and read all about it, you can. We’re not stopping you. "
