Remakes you wish had never happened

Totally disagree with The Hills Have Eyes, superior to the original and one of the best remakes to come out lately. Also The Ring was a decent try, it's the remake's sequel that was awful.

Psycho, and Funny Games were pointless.

Taxi, and The Wickerman are two that come into my head as two of the worst remakes ever.

Halloween was terrible and made the mistake of giving Myers a backstory/excuse for his killing and rubbish like that.

Others I've not bothered watching or were nothing memorable and can't remember the remakes.

I actually quite liked the "Friday the 13th" remake. Mainly because I thought the original sucked. I thought the remake was better.

I'm quite interested in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" remake purely because I love the original and am curious about what they could do with it. I'm not expecting it to be as good though. I'd love them to go right back and show stuff about when Fred was actually alive. I think that could be really interesting if done right.

I haven't seen the remake of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" but I'd guess that it's better than the original mainly because the original is one of the most overated horror movies I've ever seen and the remake can't be any worse than it.

While Rob Zombie's "Halloween" wasn't as terrible as I thought it was gonna be I think it went completely against the essence of the original. Plus, it was a lot more violent than it needed to be, in my opinion.

I wouldn't classify that as a remake, just another adaptation of the book. It wasn't another version of a previous WITW film but rather a version of the book.

I agree with you about the others though.

the parent trap!!! i loved the original, but the new version doesn't cut it for me.

i really hope disney/nickelodeon don't decide to remake bugsy malone, it's good just how it is. i can imagine them turning into a poppy boppy disaster with kiRAB who can't act.

Those movies either so terrible or so pointless that I feel sorry for those who paid to see them:

Psycho
The Wicker Man
The Fog
The Hitcher
The Omen
Pink Panther

At least movies such as Texas Chainsaw,Halloween,Charlie & the Chocolate Factory etc offered something of a new take on the original.

Ask A Policeman - Will Hay. Then the remake with the most unfunny double act (for me) Canon and Ball. Have there been any Laurel and Hardy films remade?

Can't believe I forgot that one. Also The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Sadly not. They never seem to show Ben-Hur on TV, and I've only seen the first few minutes of The Fly :(

It's not here yet but i could imagine someone like Michael Bay redoing Terminator. But i think we could do with a new 2nd and 3rd Matrix. Death Race with Jason Statham was awful. Even though the original wasn't great.

I strongly disagree, I thought it was laughable. The victims were the most stupid, moronic, feeble minded family to ever walk the earth and I and the (ex) wife thought they all deserved to die horribly. When you are rooting for the cannibals, something has gone wrong.

The Wicker man-The oringal.Cared about the guy and at the ending was just omg. With Nicolas Cage it was meh make him shut up!! His usual monotone performance was just...bleh!

Nomad Ben-Hur is often shown on TCM Channel if you have that.

Another film shown often on that channel as well is Gone With The Wind.

Just thought you might like to know.
