Religions shouldn't ever be forbidden, but extinguished in favour of a body

of knowledge about Humanity. Agree? In this mini questionaire, which statement(s) do you agree with?

1) Good intentions and true knowledge about human nature in Religions were mostly perverted a long time ago by the lack of rationality and open mindedness that comes from creating childish "follow the Mythic Perfect Leader" cliques which leads humanity to lack of knowledge and true understanding. True or False?

2) Due to lots of people with good intentions who are, quite frankly, too ignorant and also due to powerhungry people (aka "a$$holes") that use belief systems to gather a submissive following, the Good and the Knowledge existant of all (at least *most*) religions got largely perverted. True or False?

3) Independent of our beliefs, we are mostly a bunch of people in different stages of life and understandings looking for truth. True or False?

4) Religions shouldn't ever be forbidden, but extinguished as quick as possible in favour of a whole body of knowledge about Humanity, one that each and every person can question and, in time, understand it with their rational mind. True or False?

(State what belief system you come from: Christianity, Judaism, Atheism, Buddhism, Neo-Paganism... etc, etc.)

1 is True, but I must say it sounds "mystic" at the end when you speak of the "lack of knowledge and true understanding." Who is to determine what is knowledge and "understanding" for an entire race of beings? If intelligent and friendly aliens landed on Earth, would you expect them to adhere to your "whole body of knowledge about Humanity"? Who are the chosen Philosophers who will determine this "body of knowledge"?

The other answer asks if it you who will "extinguish" religions. This implies that someone must, if it is going to be done; the question then becomes, who has the right, let alone the power, to extinguish anything that someone believes in? You can prohibit practices such as sacrifices of animals and humans; you can ban the use of psychedelic drugs for religious experiences; you can ban the enforcement of dogmatic invasions on behavior, such as the Roman Church used to enforce.

But you cannot "extinguish" a belief system, because there are those who will always reject some portion of science, and if you try, they will only go underground, like the people in Farenheit 451.

And would your distinguished self `extinguish` them? I`m not religious but you lost me right there. And how would any body of knowledge be compiled and absorbed when all alters zillionish every instant. It would take ten years = another doctrine.
