Regulating menstrual cycle naturally?

I went off of the pill at the beginning of January this year, after a tumultuous encounter with its side effects. Ever since coming off, my periods have been irregular-- which I expected, as I had looked up what to expect and had been told by numerous women who've also gone off that it would happen.
Anyways, so it's been like 8 months and my periods are still arriving late.
Is there any way that I can naturally encourage them to be more regular? I've heard a few times that you can, but I'm not sure how.
How long should I expect them to be irregular for?

I can't afford to see a doctor, and, quite honestly, I wouldn't want to waste the money if I had it in the first place as I was dismissed several times before figuring out for myself that the pill was the cause of all my problems. I am now free of all the problems I did have, no thanks to the many doctors I saw. That's the middle east for you.

Anyways, additional details, if they'll help: I'm 20 and I was on the pill for my skin, I am not currently sexually active.
